Dreaming with eyes open for Book Week

There were so many fun activities for Book Week this year to help promote the joy reading brings to young minds.

This year's Book Week theme was  'Dreaming with eyes open'.

Lunchtime games in the library, bookmark competitions, guess the teacher and the book in the jar helped inspire our readers.

The Great Book Swap

CCGS has a long history of support for the Great Book Swap. It is a fantastic way to learn about indigenous languages and cultures; while raising funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

CCGS is part of the Lungkura House. This year our community raised $1,585! Thank you to the Library team for running such an important fundraising event and to all that contributed.

Visiting authors

We welcomed authors Will Kostakis and Aura Parker to CCGS who shared their knowledge and story writing journey so far with students.

Will Kostakis, who wrote Monuments, Side Kicks and The First Third, spoke with Years 5 to 10. Aura Parker, author and illustrator of Twig, Cocoon and Splash, chatted with Kindy to Year 4.

Students were inspired by their stories. Two students in Year 5 even purchased a diary from the Book Fair to start journaling their Junior School adventures. They want to co-author a book so they can be 'just like Will'.

Books on Parade

We ended the Book Week festivities with a fantastic book parade. Junior School friends and family watched some of their favourite book characters come to life!
